Altered Blood+ Is All That Cool Unyielder Motion In A More Tightly Designed Package
Altered Blood+ by UNYIELDER devs TrueWorld Studios very much feels like an embrace of this philosophy. While UNYIELDER was limited by its rogue-like boss rush formula, Altered Blood+ goes back to the series prime hunting grounds: meticulously designed dungeons acting as puzzles to solve.
Praise be to the boomer shooter. While those who fire with their eyes closed seek the warmth of cover or chokepoints, the enlightened, in V1's embrace, fire whilst in a full sprint and into oncoming traffic.

Altered Blood+ Gameplay

Playing the game at Indie Jam 2026, I got to try out the gameplay debut for the shooter myself. True enough to its lineage, the game is incredibly frenetic. Its core gimmick is built around gibbing- standing in pools of your enemy's blood heals you back up, meaning you can continue your rampage of violence as long as you've got one more hit in you and even come out of encounters health-positive.
That only emboldens more reckless play. Using my character's knife I'm now storming these hallways like it's London and some of these robots have tried to make a run with my ket. Headshots? Headshanks . Every action chains so seamlessly into each other, it feels hard to imagine any kind of passivity in this world. It feels insulting to even think of shooting your gun while standing still: you were made to fire these things like soaring through the air.
While the demo only had one gun alongside your melee weapon, it was a pretty good thesis statement of what the game intends to be. Movement consists of both a stomp and an airdash, giving you a pretty tight control over where exactly you want your character to be at all times.
In addition your melee is also a forward dash, with just an inkling of feeling that you can maybe spend a whole stage in one combo. I certainly haven't done it yet, but it's exciting to wonder if it's possible.

After all, the game really wants you to be interacting with these tools. The stomp itself does damage and even bounces you off the ground- whether Trueworld wants it or not, it feels like people are going to be doing some crazy moves in Altered Blood+.
While the one gun in the playable build was pretty straightforward in what it does, I can see future weapons being what makes or breaks Altered Blood+. The game doesn't have a release date quite yet, but you can mess with the game by downloading the demo on Itch. If anything else, you can help solve our team's problem: is the mythical stomp-only run possible?
