Our Story Starts in Aliahan: Highlights from the Beginning of the Game

After you have finished choosing your hero's name and appearance, you are greeted by a mysterious voice. After this, the hero wakes from their slumber and marks their 16th birthday by seeking an audience with the king. They are then sent on a mission to do what their late father could not: save the world. Before setting out on your journey proper, we highly recommend stopping by Patty's Party Planning Place. Pick up some companions there before exploring the town in search of information and shops where you can buy items and equipment.

Choose From Three Difficulties

When making an adventure log, you can choose from one of three difficulties: Dracky Quest, Dragon Quest, and Draconian Quest. If you find your chosen difficulty isn't to your liking, youm can change it at any time via the "System Settings" menu.

First, go and see the king!

His Majesty will ask you to go and vanquish the Archfiend. Monarchs the realm over are a great source of wisdom, so do speak to them if you ever feel lost.

Head to Patty's to find some allies

You can register your own companions if you like, but if that feels a bit daunting then go with the default party Patty offers you: a warrior, mage, and priest.

Talk to the townspeople and those you meet in castles!

You can memorize up to 30 conversations! If you want to replay a conversation you've committed to memory, head to the "Recall" menu.

Stock up on items and equipment!

Merchants in town sell all kinds of useful items and gear that will aid you on your quest. It's also worth noting that different towns have different things for sale.

What else lurks in towns and castles?

If you're lucky, you might find items inside barrels and pots. Some areas are also home to mini medals; if you find any, take them to the mini-medal enthusiast in Aliahan.

Once you feel ready to depart, make your way to the village of Reeve! The wide-open world is home to towns and castles, as well as dungeons that take the form of caves and towers. You will face many monsters while exploring, so always be on your guard.

Beating monsters in battle on the world map and in dungeons will earn you experience points! Earn enough and you'll level up, making your party even stronger.

In Reeve, our party learns that someone in the Dreamer's Tower possesses a rather useful item.

The party explores a cave enroute to the Dreamer's Tower.

There seems to be more than one way to reach the tower. Going via a dungeon means you'll need to fight your fair share of monsters!

About DRAGON QUEST

The DRAGON QUEST series is known for putting players in the shoes of its protagonists as they set out on an adventure to vanquish a great evil. It is one of Japan's most famous role-playing game (RPG) series.

The first entry in the series, DRAGON QUEST I, released in 1986.
