The Evolution Pro Tour, also known as EVO has announced an aggressive new expansion plan following the new ownership of the fighting game tournament series.

In a new announcement today talking about the future of the event, they announced three new EVO events- in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, China, Mexico and Brazil, running alongside the already announced events in the US, France, Japan and Singapore.
This follows news from last week of the fighting game event series changing hands to new ownership, as Sony sold its stake in the tournament to Saudi-owned Qiddiya Gaming, who purchased RTS, the current owners of EVO.
Qiddiya has been a strong presence at fighting game events, being a major sponsor for EVO in the past as well as having physical booths at events like EVO Japan.
EVO Launches New Tournament Series
The new EVO events weren't all that was announced, however- the EVO management also announced a new World Championship series, with a focus on multi-game players.
"Unlike existing World Championships, this new format will require competitors to showcase their mastery of multiple fighting games. Putting their adaptability, game knowledge, and fighting game fundamentals to the ultimate test. Only by demonstrating next level skills across the entire fighting game genre can a player rise to claim this latest Championship", the statement reads.
According to the chart they put out, it looks like this tournament series is set to kick off mid-2027.
In addition, the management also announced that EVO would be getting involved with more local scenes, helping out issues like equipment, awareness, and player connectivity.
