Gigabyte has announced that its Intel Motherboards will now support Half-UDIMM or HUDIMM memory, adapting to the more premium nature of RAM in the modern age.
In a new BIOS update for the Intel 800, 700 and 600 series motherboards, Gigabyte will be adding HUDIMM support, which is a boon for any budget PC-builders.

This allows users to have asymmetric RAM builds- such as having an 8GB HUDIMM along with a 16GB UDIMM to have a combined 24GB despite the different formats.
Users currently using one of the Intel motherboards only need to update their BIOS to enable the support.
Gigabyte HUDIMM Memory Explained
For those not in the loop, HUDIMM is a new memory standard that features a single 32-bit sub-channel instead of the usual dual channel standard RAM uses.
Given the escalating costs of RAM in recent months, it's seen as a way to keep RAM prices down- as well as addressing growing demand for memory.
