Former Sony Santa Monica Studio writer Alanah Pierce voiced her support for the God of War remakes to include the infamous silly sex minigames, highlighting it was one of the contributions by the women on the team.

In a stream. she discussed how she had worked with Ariel Lawrence, co-producer on the older God of War games, who brought up the fun tidbit: that for as much as the sex scenes in God of War get brought up as being controversial or sexist, they were ultimately designed by women and mark one of their contributions to the series.

"Fun fact: the God of War sex mini-games were designed by women. In fact, I worked with one of them.," Pearce said in a stream.

She also highlighted that if you bothered to look anywhere else on screen while Kratos processes his feelings about his lost family by getting it on with Aphrodite, you might notice some familiar (or unfamiliar) anatomy motifs in Aphrodite's chamber.

"They were largely worked on by women on that dev team. In fact, when you walk into, I think it's Aphrodite's chamber, this was designed – again, including a group of women – to look like a labia. It's literally designed to be evocative of a vagina. And the women were the ones who did that. When you look at it, it makes sense, but I feel like a lot of people didn't notice that. I worked with one of the women who worked on these, and she was very proud of it, and it was really fucking cool".

Are The Sex Minigames In The God Of War Remake?

Alanah's defense of the sex minigames in God of War come as a symptom of toxic internet discourse- where some users are upset about them being removed from the recently announced remake, despite no official statement having ever confirmed it.

As always happens on social media, someone has imagined a hypothetical scenario and people on the internet got mad at it despite it not even necessarily being true.

Alanah herself pushed back on the notion that a woman having sex in God of War was inherently misogynistic, and gave her personal opinion that the scenes should stay in.

"I'm pro-sex minigame", she clarified. "I recognize in God of War it's a little silly the way it was in those games. But again, I think it should stay in those remakes. I think it belongs there. I don't think it was disrespectful to women".
