Bandai has announced Gundam Assemble, as the model kit giant breaks into the unpainted miniatures field.

Gundam Assemble is a tabletop miniatures game, featuring 2-inch high models of various mobile suits and ships from the various Gundam universes.

No release date has been given for the game just yet, though the official teaser website says mobile suits will have equipment and abilities based on their on-screen appearances.

That being said, given the game already has an English site, it's safe to assume it will be getting a global release.

They also released a second teaser collaborating with the recently announced Gundam Card Game

Gundam Assemble

As for the miniatures themselves, each miniature uses a similar sized hexagonal base, while the kits are unpainted and on sprues out of the box.

Certain bigger units, like the ships can have multiple hexagonal bases, taking up more space.

Here are all the currently announced miniatures for Gundam Assemble so far:

  • RX 78-2 Gundam
  • Char's Zaku
  • Guncannon
  • Guntank
  • Wing Gundam Zero Endless Waltz
  • Tallgeese
  • Gundam Aerial
  • Full Armor Gundam Unicorn (Base size 2)
  • Sinanju
  • Kapool
  • Archangel (Base Size 3)
  • Strike Gundam
  • Rising Freedom Gundam

What We Know About The Gundam Assemble Rules

Clear view of the colored hexes and d10 dice

While the rules haven't been revealed yet, the teaser itself shows some interesting details: for one, the game uses a hex board, similar to other tabletop mech games like Battle Tech.

The playmat also includes specially colored hexes, like green or red ones though their function has not been revealed.

It also appears to be using a d10 system for rolling, rather than the more popular d20 or more common d6.

Given that Games Workshop has rules for its tabletop spread across literal volumes, it seems unlikely that Gundam Assemble would do the same- it seems far more likely that we're going to see a much more simplified system.
