Hellversus , A Fan Made Fighting Game Based On Helltaker Now Available

Demon dating game Helltaker has gotten its own fan fighting game, as Hellversus releases its first public build over the Christmas holiday. 

In a tweet, Hellversus creator Kyo-Hei said a public build of the game is now available for free via the project's Itch.io page. 

They've also said the final release of the game will also be free for users to play and download. 

It should be noted this is still an early access build- it currently only contains two characters, though game creator Kyo-Hei has been sharing information about how they intend the other demon girls to look and play. 

Gameplay wise, the game handles like an older-school airdasher, featuring a smaller selection of special moves as well as flashy air combos.

Characters each feature unique gimmicks, with Modeus being able to buff her defense via a taunt while Zdrada can throw her cigarettes like bombs. 

For those not in the loop, Helltaker is a free puzzle game by Lukasz "Vanripper" Piskorz, about the titular Helltaker going to hell to create a harem of well-dressed demon girls. 

Since its release it has received a lot of additional content both fan-made and official, in the form of comics by Piskorz showing new characters, as well as an update with a new chapter called Examtaker.

Fan-made fighting games aren't horribly uncommon, though they tend to come from a particularly dedicated type of fan. 

One of the best-known ones is Idol Showdown, a fan-made fighting game based on Hololive that eventually joined the official publishing arm HoloIndie.

Hellversus Characters

While a finalized roster hasn't been officially announced, an old video from 2021 shows 15 characters on the roster- featuring all the Helltaker girls as well as characters from its updated content Examtaker.

The current build contains Modeus and Zdrada, and Kyo-Hei has tweeted out gameplay information about the following characters: 

• Helltaker
• Lucifer
• Beelzebub
• Pandemonica

In addition, the roster also pretty much confirms that the game will, at the very least, feature all the demon girls from the base game.
