One of the big highlights of the second open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds is the opportunity to fight Arkveld, though the game's flagship isn't going to be waiting outside your camp with a spiked bat rearing to go.

While the fight is markedly a step up from the other monsters in the beta, this guide will show you how to get to Arkveld and go toe to toe with the Unchained monster.

Unlocking Arkveld In Monster Hunter WIlds

Gypceros itself isn't too bad a fight, just be sure to register the Side Quest and complete it to get to the meat and bones faster

To unlock Arkveld in Monster Hunter Wilds, you'll need to first hunt the other newcomer to the second beta, the wyvern Gypceros. Note, while it's possible to jump a Gypceros in the wild, you'll need to unlock the Investigate The Gypceros side quest to get the next step.

Capcom's love of "Fight the flagship" betas is one of my favorite parts of the Monster Hunter marketing cycle

Once you've completed the Gypceros quest, go back to camp and talk to Alma- she'll have new dialogue saying a new monster has appeared. This is Advanced Quest: Unchained Arkveld, and here's where you get to fight the beast.

The quest timer is extremely short and the monster itself hits extra hard, so be sure to bring your A-game if you're looking to bag this beast before the Open Beta ends .

Arkveld Monster Hunter Wilds

In general, you'll want to avoid its chain-like appendages coming off its arms- target them when they're glowing for the best damage but also be sure to keep yourself free to dodge its bigger attacks.

It also has a unique Turf War with Rey Dau, so be sure to keep an eye out to see two incredibly cool newcomers duking it out.

You can pre order the PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds with Unrival and save 10% off all versions of the game.
