Sunrise has announced another new Gundam series, titled Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (pronounced G-Qwarks), set for release next year.

Announced via a new trailer today, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX will get an episodic release down the line, and will also get a compiled theatrical release of the first few episodes titled Beginning in January.
No release date has been given for the TV edit.
Currently, only a Japan release has been announced for the movie.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Crew And Details

The series is being produced alongside Studio Khara, best known for producing the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, with Thrice Upon A Time's Kazuya Tsurumaki directing.
Similarly, Rebuild of Evangelion artist Ikuto Yamashita is also in charge of Mechanical Design on the project.
The plot revolves around a young girl taking part in Clan Battles, underground fights involving massive mobile suits.

Here's the official summary, courtesy of the GQuuuuuuX website:
Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space.
When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.
Under the entry name "Machu," she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.
Now their world is about to enter a new era.
It looks like GQuuuuuuX will be another alternate setting, with a very similar premise to Sunrise's own Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch From Mercury.
That being said, it also seems to feature plenty of callbacks to the Universal Century, with the Gundam GQuuuuuuX sporting a Heat Hawk and what appears to be a Zaku in the main trailer.
