PlayStation is reportedly walking back the idea to put its games on PC, after rumors that they were re-evaluating the move that saw games like Marvel's Spider-Man, The Last of Us, Returnal and more come to PC.
According to Bloomberg, staff at Sony Interactive Entertainment have been told that the company will be moving back to its older model for single player games- where the only way to play them was to buy a PlayStation console.
This is a drastic change from recent years, which saw a tactical release schedule for the game's PC ports: older games would come to PC as part of the hype engine for their sequels, such as with Marvel's Spider-Man.
PlayStation has not officially commented on the report.

The news follows Sony Corporations' financial report, which saw a reduction in Sales and Operating Income compared to last year's same quarter for the games division.
According to the report, Games and Network Services sales were down to 1.0224 trillion yen (approx 6.4 billion USD) in Q4 FY2025, down from 1.0513 trillion yen (approx 6.6 billion USD) in Q4 2024.
Operating income for Games and Network Services were also down, earning 54.1 billion yen (approx 340 million USD) compared to last year's 92.7 billion yen (approx 583 million USD)
PlayStation on PC
The idea of putting PlayStation games on PC was largely vindicated by the release of Helldivers 2- the day-and-date launch that also included crossplay gave the game a healthy playerbase, leading to its huge popularity.
The Bloomberg report alludes to multiplayer games being untouched from the original PC strategy, with this year alone seeing Marathon and Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls launching on PC with crossplay support.
Still, the idea that PlayStation is otherwise done with the experiment of single player, narrative experiences on PC may come as a blow to anyone waiting for their favorite titles to come to PC- be them newer ones like Ghost of Yotei, upcoming ones like Marvel's Wolverine, or even the back catalogue like Bloodborne.
